My lessons are calm, highly structured, and completely focused on helping students make rapid, meaningful progress. I specialise in GCSE and A-Level History (Edexcel, AQA and Cambridge), and I also support Key Stage 3 students who need clear foundations or extra confidence. I have extensive experience both as a classroom teacher and as a private tutor, as well as first-hand insight into exam success through my work as an examiner for Edexcel and AQA.

A typical lesson begins with short, targeted retrieval to check and strengthen prior knowledge. I then introduce new content or skills through precise, step-by-step instruction, modelling exactly what high-quality answers look like. Throughout the lesson, I use regular checks for understanding to adapt explanations and ensure students are secure before moving on. Students then complete guided and independent practice, with specific, actionable feedback so they know exactly how to improve.

My lessons place a strong emphasis on exam technique. I explicitly teach how to approach essay questions, analyse sources, meet assessment objectives, and structure extended responses under timed conditions. I break complex ideas into manageable steps and use clear success criteria so students understand what examiners are looking for and how to achieve top marks.

I tailor every lesson to the individual student whether they are aiming for top grades, need support closing gaps in knowledge, or want to build confidence and consistency. Having taught in challenging inner-London schools and worked one-to-one with a wide range of learners, I’m skilled at adapting my approach to suit different needs and learning styles.
