Kelvin Chung

Hi! I'm Kelvin, a Biology enthusiast with a PhD in Medicine from the University of Nottingham and a First Class Honours degree in Biomedical Science from Cardiff University.

I've always enjoyed understanding how living organisms work, from the processes occurring within individual cells to the complex systems that keep our bodies functioning. I'd love to share that enthusiasm and help students develop their understanding and confidence in Biology.

What can you expect from my lessons?

I believe everyone learns differently, so my lessons will be tailored to your individual needs, learning pace and goals.

A typical lesson will involve:

- Understanding your needs: We'll identify the topics you find challenging and establish what you'd like to achieve.
- Clear explanations: I'll break down complicated biological concepts into manageable steps, using diagrams, real-world examples and interactive discussions.
- Applying your knowledge: We'll work through questions together, including GCSE exam-style questions where appropriate.
- Building confidence: I'll encourage you to ask questions, discuss ideas and develop your understanding without worrying about making mistakes.

My experience and approach

During my PhD, I gained experience training and supporting undergraduate and postgraduate students, helping them understand scientific concepts, develop practical skills and solve problems independently. The idea is to not memorise the information, but to understand the biology behind the concept so that you can apply it to your studies.

Although I'm new to formal private tutoring, these experiences have taught me the importance of patience, clear communication and adapting explanations to different levels of understanding.

My goal is to create a relaxed, supportive learning environment where Biology feels less intimidating and more enjoyable.
