With nearly three years of classroom teaching experience, I specialise in helping students build confidence, strengthen their subject knowledge, and develop the exam skills needed to achieve strong GCSE and A-Level results.
I currently have experience teaching:

A-Level Biology
My teaching experience comes directly from working in a school environment, where I have taught students across different abilities and supported them through their GCSE and A-Level studies.

My lessons are not simply about learning and memorising content. I focus on helping students understand how to use their knowledge in an exam.
A key part of my teaching is question-paper analysis. Once a student understands a topic, we practise applying that knowledge to exam-style questions and focus on:
1.Understanding exactly what the question is asking
2.Identifying and responding to command words such as describe, explain, compare, evaluate and suggest
3.Understanding how marks are awarded
4.Structuring answers according to the requirements of the exam board
5. Learning how to include the specific scientific terminology needed to gain marks
6. Identifying common mistakes and improving answers using mark schemes
7. Building confidence with unfamiliar and application-based questions
I want students to move beyond “I know this topic” to “I know how to answer questions on this topic and gain the marks.”

Targeted Support & Interventions
During my school teaching experience, I have also provided after-school interventions and targeted support for Year 11 students.
This included focused sessions based on individual student needs, as well as one-to-one support for higher-tier students aiming for the highest grades.
I used formative assessment and student performance data to identify gaps in knowledge, target misconceptions and adapt teaching accordingly. This allowed students to focus their revision on the areas that would make the greatest difference to their performance.

Exam-Focused, Data-Informed Teaching
Assessment is an important part of my teaching style. I regularly use formative assessments, exam questions and student performance data to monitor progress.
Rather than using the same approach for every student, I identify:
What does the student know? ? What are they struggling with? ? Why are they losing marks? ? What do they need to do differently to improve?
This creates a more personalised approach to tutoring and allows lessons to be targeted towards the student's individual goals.
