I have a fun, low-pressure approach to learning; exams, coursework, revision and homework can be overwhelming, monotonous and, let’s be honest, boring, so I have found that making ways to lighten the mood also helps to lighten the load. I am able to be flexible with my approach to suit each student’s needs and interests, but I believe that making learning fun and engaging has the power to make things stick.

I offer support with course content, subject-specific skills, revision, exam techniques and essay-writing at secondary, GCSE and A Level for English Language and Literature, Geography and Film Studies. I am incredibly passionate about each of these subjects, and aim to impart both my enjoyment and knowledge onto my students in every lesson. I have plenty of experience with writing 9/A* grade essays, coursework and creative pieces across subjects, and I am willing to proof-read and offer advice on coursework elements, alongside assisting with exam prep and revision.

Over the course of my own education, I have created a range of engaging revision techniques that have helped me to achieve consistently high grades, and can be employed across multiple subjects (such as doodling plot summaries and writing parody songs for English and Film Studies, or creating personalised quizzes and entertaining, yet comprehensive, flash cards to make facts and statistics easily digestible for Geography). I believe that a “one size fits all” approach to revision and exam techniques can lead to disinterest and procrastination, so I always aim to help students tailor their own learning to find styles that work well for them.

I keep the student’s well-being at the core of every lesson, as I know from experience that neglecting your mental and physical health does your work no favours. I aim to be flexible with my lessons: I am willing to offer group, one-to-one and online sessions, depending on each student's needs and preferred learning styles.

What I lack in teaching experience, I make up for in passion for my subjects, outstanding and consistent grades, and a genuine love for learning and helping others. As a recent student myself, I am in the perfect position to understand and empathise with the myriad pressures young people face in education environments, both academically and socially. I am willing to be a friend as much as a tutor, someone who has been through GCSEs and A Levels and come out the other side with first-hand experience to impart. I know how best to approach exams to maximise time and efficiency, which revision techniques are effective for each module of my subjects, and how to balance coursework, exam preparation and external responsibilities. I am creative and academically-minded, meaning I can understand many students’ personal learning styles and adapt my approach to suit their needs.

I have achieved consistently high grades across my academic career, including for each of the subjects I tutor: Geography (A* at A Level, 8 at GCSE), English Language and Literature (B at A Level, 9 at GCSE) and Film Studies (A at A Level, 9 at GCSE). Additionally, I received an A* grade for my Extended Project Qualification alongside my A Levels, and won an award from the Association of Colleges for the innovation and creativity I displayed in this project.

I go above-and-beyond in everything I do, and I value learning from my mistakes; I am not afraid of a challenge or constructive criticism, and always strive to do my best to help others. I enjoy volunteering, particularly in youth advocacy roles: I was recently on a panel of young people helping to reshape the education system as part of the Government’s Curriculum and Assessment Review, which gave me a brilliant insight into the perspectives of young people in education across the country.
