I am a qualified Teacher with 15 years classroom experience. I teach English and the Humanities to GCSE level and beyond. I provide adaptive, engaging lessons that are responsive to the needs of individual students. I am also a SEND specialist but I teach all abilities and levels. I have high expectations for all my students and I take a patient and supportive approach to encouraging students to thrive in the subject and to reach their full potential. I have excellent subject knowledge and a strong track record of assisting students to gain the highest grades and to reach their own personal targets. I am patient and responsive to students needs and I can explain difficult concepts in a way that helps student to understand and apply their knowledge successfully to exam style questions. I am familiar with most of the exam syllabuses for English and History and can easily adapt my teaching to new syllabuses. I can also support with coursework (NEAs) by explaining the requirements and giving advice on study skills; including research, footnoting and presentation. I believe that positive relationships and understanding the needs of students is the best way to engage a student in learning and I try to be as collaborative as I can in the way I teach; making sure students have understood thoroughly before moving onto a new topic. I encourage students to feel confident and positive about their abilities in the subject as this confidence is crucial in guaranteeing success at GCSE.
