Often I will start a tutoring session catching up with the student and finding out what topic they have learnt about since our last session and what they feel confident in and what they want to improve on. The topics they want to focus in the tutoring session could also be done in an email prior to the call. The session will then be followed by addressing what they need to work on whether it is learning content, examination techniques or revision techniques.
It is key a student feels more positive about learning in the subjects as well as improving academically as this will be the key to long term success.
I have had experience in doing 1-1 tutoring in KS3&4 history (which is the degree I am currently taking), KS2,3&4 English language, KS2,3&4 maths, KS3 science, KS3&4 religious studies, KS3 geography and reading at KS1,2,3&4 levels.
Additionally, I have A-Levels in Psychology and an A-Level and working on a degree in Classical Civilisation so would be able to assist in these subjects at a GCSE level.
The experience I have received has been at an international school based in Cambridge with SEND students.
I have completed training and have qualifications in the SEND Code of Practice, Understanding and Supporting Students with Dyscalculia, Autism Awareness, Understanding EHCPs, the Role of a Learning Support Assistant and Dynamo Maths onboard training which is an educational software used to help students access maths.
Gaining a positive dynamic between the student and I is also key as it should help the student feel more comfortable with talking about what they feel less happy learning about.
