Firstly to gage an understanding of my student’s knowledge as well as what they are currently learning in school I start off my first lesson with the student with a mini test as well as a few questions on what they’re currently up to at school. I use the exam board specification to plan out a rough guide as to the the topics that are to be taught each lesson and also take into account the student‘s weak points and target these towards the start of the process. I use google meet to plan all the lessons for the month in advance, and I utilise an iPad which I screenshare so my working is seen clearly by the student. I set homework that the student must complete before each consecutive lesson and we go through any issues with the homework at the start of the lesson. I have over 6 months of experience tutoring and helping with Maths clinic at my school and I believe what sets me apart from you’re average tutor is that I am younger and more relatable to the student as I’ve just recently gone through the exams that they will soon sit.
