I generally teach from an online platform - Zoom mostly.

I generally take my lead from the pupils' needs after an initial assessment with pupil and generally their parent/carer. We then agree a focus for the lessons. My focus is usually supporting pupils prepare for the English National 5 or Higher so we work through the skills required for this course. This includes looking at the RUAE ( reading for Understanding, Analysis and Evaluation ) and the critical reading and writing sections of the course. I have a bank of resources which consist of mostly worksheets to supplement the content of the Nat 5 and Higher courses.

As English is about communication primarily , it is important to build a relationship with the pupil. I am very friendly, encouraging and empathetic and enjoy seeing pupils grow in both confidence and competence as we go through the course together.
