I am a knowledgeable and supportive sociology tutor with a clear, exam-focused approach to teaching GCSE and A-level sociology. I have a strong understanding of the UK curriculum and assessment criteria, which allows me to help students understand not only sociological content but also how to apply it effectively in exams.

My teaching style is structured yet flexible. I begin by assessing a student’s current understanding and identifying gaps in knowledge or skills. Lessons are then tailored to the individual, ensuring explanations are clear, manageable, and linked directly to exam requirements. I break down complex theories, concepts, and research methods into simple steps and use real-world examples to help students understand and remember key ideas.

A key part of my teaching focuses on developing essential exam skills. I support students in improving essay structure, using sociological terminology accurately, applying theories to questions, and evaluating perspectives to reach higher mark bands. I also help students understand command words, mark schemes, and how to plan answers efficiently under exam conditions.

I have strong organisational and communication skills, which help create calm, focused lessons with clear objectives. I am patient and encouraging, building students’ confidence and helping them feel comfortable asking questions. I also provide guidance on revision techniques, exam practice, and independent study, enabling students to become more confident and self-sufficient learners.

My aim is to help students feel in control of the subject, improve their grades, and approach sociology with clarity, confidence, and motivation, while developing strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
