Hena Huang

Hi! I’m Hena, a native Mandarin speaker from Taiwan currently studying at Durham University in the UK. I love meeting people from different cultural backgrounds and making language learning feel natural, relaxed, and enjoyable instead of stressful or intimidating.

My lessons are mainly designed for beginners, casual learners, and students who want to improve their conversational Mandarin in a supportive environment. I especially enjoy helping students build confidence in speaking and pronunciation through interactive conversation and practical daily-life topics.

I like to use visual and engaging learning materials such as slides, pictures, role-play activities, short videos, and real-life examples to make lessons more interesting and easier to remember. I believe students learn best when lessons feel interactive and connected to real communication rather than only memorising vocabulary from textbooks.

Since I am from Taiwan, I can also teach Traditional Chinese and prepare Zhuyin (Bopomofo) materials for students who are interested in Taiwanese Mandarin pronunciation and writing systems. I’m happy to adjust lessons based on your goals — whether you want to learn basic conversation, improve listening skills, practice speaking naturally, or explore Taiwanese culture and expressions.

As someone currently living and studying abroad, I understand how challenging learning a new language can sometimes feel. That’s why I always try to create a comfortable and encouraging learning atmosphere where students feel safe to ask questions, make mistakes, and enjoy the learning process.
