I am a qualified secondary mathematics teacher (PGCE, UCL Institute of Education; QTS) with over ten years’ experience in schools in London, Hong Kong and Singapore. I currently teach IB Mathematics and IGCSE at an international school in London, and have led the IB Analysis and Approaches course in two international schools. My most recent IGCSE class achieved 17 grade 9s and one grade 8. I have tutored privately since 2016.
I tutor students aged 11 to 18: KS3, IGCSE/GCSE (including IGCSE Additional Mathematics), A Level Mathematics and Further Mathematics, and IB Mathematics (Analysis and Approaches, and Applications and Interpretation) at SL and HL.
Lessons are built around the student. In the first session I find out exactly what they have already secured and where the gaps are, using a short diagnostic and conversation rather than assumptions. Each lesson then combines clear explanation, worked examples and exam-style practice, with feedback on method as well as answers. I want students to understand why a method works, not just how to use it, because that understanding is what holds up under exam pressure. For exam years, I use past papers and mark schemes so students learn exactly what examiners are looking for.
Lessons are usually 60 minutes; for A Level and IB students, 90 minutes often works better. Parents receive a short update on progress and next steps when helpful.
I am experienced in supporting students with special educational needs and those learning in English as an additional language. I hold an Enhanced DBS certificate. I tutor online, or in person anywhere between Canary Wharf and Wembley.
