Hi, I'm Beatrice!

I am a Maths graduate from the University of Bath where I obtained a 2:1 in 2021. I also obtained an A* in Maths and A in Further Maths A-Level and an A* at GCSE Maths. I have since worked in the banking sector as a business analyst and also in the insurance sector as a trainee actuary.

Whilst I enjoyed my previous roles, I have realised that teaching is my true passion. Therefore, I am currently going through a career change and will be completing my QTS & PGCE teacher training in the next academic year to become an A-Level Maths teacher.

Whilst at university, I tutored numerous students at GCSE maths level and hope to continue tutoring throughout my life as I find it incredibly rewarding to help students 1-1 in building confidence in the classroom and developing a deep understanding of mathematics.

I am a patient, warm, trustworthy and empathetic person and this carries through into my tutoring. My students can expect a calm and structured classroom from me where all questions are welcomed. I understand how frustrating it can be for students who aren't given enough time or attention in busy classrooms and I seek to rectify this in my sessions. I care about the confidence of each student and deeply wish to see them succeed in their exams.

Each session will begin with a short recap of the previous topic(s) covered. In this recap, I’ll ask the student to complete a few short exercises to review their understanding. This method also helps to consolidate their long term memory of the topic which will help massively when it comes to revising for their exams. Once we are happy with the recap, we will move onto the next area that the student needs assistance with. During this time I will demonstrate and talk through a worked example, asking and answering questions throughout. We will then take time to answer questions together and then I would like to see the student answer some questions independently. After this, we will mark the answers together and review what is needed. At the end of the session, I like to see if the student can explain the topic back to me in their own words to help summarise the session and consolidate the learning in their mind. I also ask the student to let me know how confident and prepared they feel regarding the topic and based on this we can decide to revisit it or not in the future.

Lesson pricing ranges between £20-£45/ hour depending on the level (secondary, GCSE, As-Level etc) being taught.

Please reach out to me with any questions you may have or we can arrange a call! I look forward to hearing from you.

Beatrice is an excellent maths tutor! She has a fantastic ability to explain even the most difficult concepts in a clear and easy way. She is incredibly knowledgeable, patient and supportive, and always takes the time to make sure everything is fully understood before moving on. Her teaching style makes maths feel much more approachable and has really helped build my daughters confidence. I couldn’t recommend her highly enough.

Bea was brilliant with my daughter, who she tutored for two years towards the end of primary school. Maths was always a subject she struggled with and she really lacked confidence, but Bea was so patient and encouraging. We noticed such a difference in her attitude towards maths and by the time she started secondary school she was much more confident in her abilities. Would definitely recommend Bea!

Bea helped my son with maths when he was in Year 8 and starting to struggle with some of the more difficult topics. She was great at explaining things in a way that made sense to him and was always really patient. His confidence improved massively and he became much happier tackling his maths homework on his own. Would highly recommend!
