My lessons are designed for early-intermediate and intermediate pianists who already have a basic understanding of music reading and piano playing. I primarily focus on classical piano, and I am particularly happy to work with students who have specific pieces they would like to improve, are preparing for an exam or performance, or want to develop their technique and musical understanding.
Lessons are relaxed, friendly and tailored to each student's individual needs. Rather than following exactly the same structure with every student, I like to find out what you are currently working on and what you would like to achieve. A typical lesson might involve listening to you play a piece, identifying areas that could be improved, demonstrating different approaches, and then working through those sections together. We can also spend time on technique, sight-reading, musical interpretation and effective practice methods where appropriate.

For students preparing for exams, lessons can be focused around their chosen repertoire, helping with technical difficulties, interpretation, performance confidence and preparation. If you are learning a particular piece outside of an exam, we can similarly concentrate on the areas you find most challenging and work towards making the piece more secure and expressive.

I currently study Classical Piano at degree level at Edinburgh Napier University and hold an ARSM Diploma in Piano Performance. Although I am new to teaching professionally, I have extensive experience as a classical piano student myself and have worked through advanced repertoire, performance preparation and the demands of practical examinations. I aim to bring that experience into lessons while creating a supportive environment where students can ask questions and work at a pace that suits them.

Lessons are primarily available online, with flexible scheduling around my university timetable. I can also travel to selected students' homes in Edinburgh for suitable in-person lessons, particularly for exam preparation or specific repertoire work.
