My lessons are structured, clear and exam-focused, but also friendly and encouraging. I usually start by checking the student’s current understanding, then I explain the key concept step by step, using simple examples before moving on to exam-style questions. I place a strong emphasis on why a method works, not just how to memorise it.

A typical lesson includes a short review of previous work, targeted teaching of a new topic, guided practice, and then independent problem-solving with feedback. For GCSE and A Level students, I regularly use past-paper questions to build confidence, speed and exam technique. For Further Maths, TMUA, STEP, ESAT and other entrance exams, I focus more on problem-solving strategy, logical thinking and recognising patterns.

My teaching style is patient, analytical and highly personalised. Some students need help filling gaps in their foundations; others are aiming for top grades or competitive university applications. I adapt the pace and difficulty to each student, while keeping the lesson focused and productive.

I have a Ph.D. and MSc in Actuarial Mathematics and am a qualified actuary. I have taught and supported students across GCSE, IGCSE, A Level Maths, Further Maths, IB, AP and university entrance exams. My professional background in mathematics, statistics and finance helps me explain abstract topics clearly and connect them to real applications where useful.

I also believe that confidence is built through carefully chosen practice. I do not simply give students a long list of questions; I select questions that reveal common mistakes, build fluency, and gradually increase in difficulty. During lessons, I encourage students to explain their thinking, ask questions freely, and develop a calm, logical approach to problem-solving. My aim is for students to leave each lesson not only knowing more mathematics, but also feeling more confident about how to tackle unfamiliar questions.
