Eve Mcintosh

Hi there! I am a published writer, tutor, and creative workshop host with extensive experience teaching English to young people and adults. To introduce myself briefly; I am an enthusiastic tutor with a Masters Degree in English Literature and Spanish Language, a published poet represented by the UK publisher Guillemot Press, and an experienced creative writing workshop host working for Edinburgh's Scottish Poetry Library after I achieved the title of 'Scottish Young Makar 2024'. Currently, I edit the magazine 'Big Red Cat', and I am also the co-founder and editor of 'Anchorite Journal'. Outside of creative writing workshops and lessons for all ages, I have experience tutoring high-school children with their English SQA Qualifications, such as National 5 and Higher. In these tutoring sessions, we have revised the students' creative and discursive writing portfolios, and studied their set texts such as Macbeth, To Kill A Mockingbird, The Great Gatsby, and more. I am also confident in tutoring close reading and reading comprehension. In my lessons, the student will feel confident to share their thoughts without judgment, and will learn in an engaging but informative environment, where mistakes are never punished but instead built upon.
