I can teach general English, conversation, business, and English for travel. I can also help students to prepare for job interviews, and with editing e-mails, or other work-related documents, and I can help students prepare for specific meetings.
I try to tailor my courses to the interests and needs of my students, and I am well aware that some students are able to commit more time to learning the language, whilst others have little time to spend learning English.
I think it is very important to speak, and to use the language, and even when teaching grammar, I try to use a highly communicative approach.
Conversational lessons again depend on the student - if a student prefers a more structured approach, I can find suitable materials to prepare them for a free discussion at the end of the lesson. Otherwise, I am happy to allow the conversation to develop organically if this is what the student prefers. In fact, some students tell me that they are taking the lessons simply because they don't want to forget what they learnt in school.
Whatever your needs, and particular learner style, I am open to adapting my approach to better suit my students.
Lesson activities include grammar exercises, spoken grammar practice, freer conversation, role-plays, reading news articles, and discussing current affairs. With a wide range of interests, I can normally find common ground with whoever I am teaching.
I have six years experience with online 1-1 teaching, and before that, I worked in several different countries in Europe and Asia, teaching classes of all ages and abilities.
