My lessons vary massively depending on your needs as my student. I have been tutoring for five years and I am also currently working as an educational video presenter for Peerscroller. I generally work with weekly online 1-1 Zoom/Meets, however for a small extra fee I am happy to travel across Bristol to improve your education in-person.
I have experience tutoring different abilities, ranging from students failing their GCSE English mocks to high-achieving students looking to reach the maximum band, and I feel comfortable helping my students improve with any level of starting ability. I believe tutoring relies on one key value- personalisation. Our lessons’ content is highly dependent on what you need, and we will be having regular conversations about what type of learning works best for you. However, my lesson formats generally focus on a few key activities:
- Breaking down GCSE Edexcel/AQA/OCR English Literature & Language question titles
- Analysing vague English mark schemes to highlight the high-achieving structural formats
- Setting and working through custom GCSE literary exercises
- Marking and action-pointing students’ practice essays
- Using exemplar model essays to illuminate key strengths of top level answers

I generally recommend either one two-hour lesson or two hour lessons per week. Before we begin any tutoring, I will take time to speak to you and get a clear understanding of your situation and what you are looking to focus on in our lessons. Outside of our lessons, I will be setting additional homework to be completed before, and then incorporated into, our following session.
