From my five years of tutoring Spanish, my experience varies from teaching adult beginners, to Alevel and GCSE students, to sporting talent. My lessons tend to take a conversational focus, teaching you what you really need to know to become confidently conversational and using language in its context, instead of teaching isolated grammar and vocabulary. However, I am flexible and guided by my clients, whatever you'd like to work on I am more than happy to teach.
In terms of GCSEs and Alevels, having sat these exams relatively recently myself (in 2021 and 2023, achieving a 9 and an A, respectively) I teach the exam techniques needed to reach the top grades for AQA specs, transforming students' approaches to the exam. Not only do I teach paper 1 (listening, reading and writing) and paper 2 (writing - Volver, El Laberinto del Fauno and La Casa de Bernarda Alba), but also I teach students to become confident in paper 3, speaking, an aspect often neglected by the school system.
From studying Spanish at university, as well as living in Spain and Argentina, I am very interested in the various languages, cultures and histories of the Spanish-speaking world, and believe that learning cultural aspects is central to learning a language. Not only will you learn a language, but also open your eyes to new ways of living.
