Tutoring seeks to help students develop and maximise their potential. My lessons have two themes: developing understanding of the subject area and presenting that understanding effectively for assessment. This enables students to work independently as they develop the relevant skills. I expect my input to become redundant as the student develops.

I work with secondary and university students, using my 15 years of tutoring at university to inform my lessons. One feature of my tutoring is being accessible. I have found that even complex concepts and theories can be understood if they are explained effectively. This type of effective communication is something I have honed over the years. I find relatable analogies to be a powerful tool.

In addition, I scaffold my teaching so that, eventually, the student becomes self-sufficient as their self-efficacy builds. I always have this as a goal so students grow rather than devel up a dependence.
