Dr Geoff Lovell

Dr Geoff Lovell is a well-published researcher, effective leader and manager, excellent teacher, and successful sport and exercise psychologist having been part of both British and Australian Paralympic teams.

Geoff has extensive experience in designing, leading, and providing elite sport psychology services supporting Great Britain and Australian Paralympic and Olympic Team successes. Geoff has supported athletes at every Olympic and Paralympic summer games since 1996 and has been to Commonwealth Games and Paralympic Games. Geoff has actively supported European Championship, World Championship, Paralympic, and Olympic medal winners. In Australia, Geoff has had substantial leadership roles in high-profile Paralympic and Olympic campaigns, e.g., Swimming (Olympic and Paralympic, pool, and open water). Geoff is the Olympic Psychologist for the Great Britain Rowing Team, helping to support Team success at the Paris Olympic Games 2024 and preparing for LA 2028.

Geoff’s specific area of scholarship is the psychology of sport, exercise, health, and well-being. Geoff has published over 100 peer-reviewed journal articles , has considerable experience in successfully supervising research students, and has had success in external grant applications.

Geoff is a Senior Fellow of Advance HE (SFHEA). Geoff’s teaching has been recognised as excellent in QAA reviews and by Australian national awards (Office for Learning and Teaching (OLT) Australian Awards for University Teaching; Citations for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning).

Geoff is a registered psychologist and provides expert psychology consultancy specialising in performance optimization, injury recovery, enhancing well-being, healthy living, and performance cultures. Geoff provides individual practice and works with major national Teams.
