Every session follows a similar rhythm so your child always knows what to expect as young children thrive on routine, and that familiar structure helps them settle quickly and feel confident. But within that, no two lessons are ever quite the same. I'm constantly reading how your child is feeling that day, what's working, what needs a little more time, and I adjust as we go.
Depending on the need identified, sessions can cover the full range of Early Years learning - phonics and early reading using the Read Write Inc. programme, early writing, number and maths foundations, and broader school readiness skills like listening, following instructions, and building independence. Think of it as everything your child needs to walk into Reception/Year 1, or thrive once they're already there, all wrapped into one fun, focused session.
I offer lessons both in person and online, so we can find whatever works best for your family. In-person sessions tend to involve more hands-on activities: games, flashcards, whiteboards, and plenty of movement, because little ones learn best when they're doing, not just sitting and listening! Online sessions are more structured around screen-friendly activities and I've found children adapt to this really quickly, often faster than you'd expect!
Before we begin, I'll always take time to get to know your child: what they enjoy, where they're at, and what you're hoping to achieve. From there I'll put together a plan that's personal to them, and I'll keep you updated along the way so you always know how they're progressing.
With over 10 years in EYFS classrooms, I've worked with children at every stage and every ability level - from those who just need a confidence boost to those who are ready to be stretched. I also have extensive experience working with EAL (English as an Additional Language) and SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) children.
Whatever your child needs, we'll work it out together :)
