About me

My lessons are built around whatever's actually giving you trouble that week, not a fixed syllabus. We usually start by going through the homework together so I can see exactly where a concept lost you, then rebuild it from there with examples that make sense in plain language rather than textbook language. My lessons are built around whatever's actually giving you trouble that week, not a fixed syllabus. We usually start by going through the homework together so I can see exactly where a concept lost you, then rebuild it from there with examples that make sense in plain language rather than textbook language. Once something clicks, I step back and let you try it on your own while I'm still there to catch any wobble, because the goal is that you can do it without me next time.

Sessions are calm and conversational rather than test-like: I want you comfortable enough to say "I don't get this" without hesitating, since that's usually the fastest way to actually learn it. Depending on what you need, we might work through maths problems step by step, read and talk through a text together, or practise explaining an idea out loud until it feels natural.

I've been teaching for years in quite different settings in México and abroad: three years running catechism classes for teenage girls, a year tutoring primary school children in maths, a year coaching twelve-year-olds in public speaking, and two years lecturing law students at university. I'm currently finishing an MPhil at Cambridge, so I also know what it's like to be a student myself, which keeps me realistic about how learning actually happens and the pressure towards it. If you want someone patient who adapts to how you learn instead of sticking to one fixed method, I'd genuinely love to work with you!
