Hi, I’m Brooke! I’m a secondary school Chemistry teacher based in Swansea, with a degree in Chemistry and four years of private tutoring experience alongside my teaching job. I teach GCSE and A-level Chemistry and offer tuition in both English and Welsh.
I know Chemistry can feel overwhelming when there are unfamiliar terms, calculations and lots of ideas to connect. My approach is to break topics into manageable steps and explain them clearly, giving you time to ask questions and practise without feeling rushed.
We’ll begin by discussing your goals, the topics you find difficult and how you feel about the subject. This helps me plan lessons around your needs, whether you want support with schoolwork, focused exam revision or help building your confidence.
A typical lesson will start with a short recap to check your understanding. We’ll then work through a topic using clear explanations, diagrams and worked examples before you try some questions yourself. I’ll guide you where needed, and we’ll discuss your answers so you understand both what went well and what to improve.
For GCSE and A-level students, we’ll practise exam questions and use mark schemes to explore what makes a successful answer. We can work on calculations, scientific vocabulary, practical questions and longer written responses. My classroom experience and knowledge of WJEC courses help me make this practice relevant to your studies.
I’m patient and approachable, and you never need to worry about asking a “silly” question. If an explanation doesn’t click, we’ll try another way. We’ll finish each lesson by reviewing what you’ve learned and agreeing on the next steps.
My aim is for you to leave lessons feeling clearer about Chemistry and more confident tackling questions independently.
