I believe in understanding a person and how they learn to be able to teach them properly. I will try and get into my pupils mind to see what they know and the gaps in their knowledge and fill it! Engaging, sharing and practice will lead to a successful outcome at the end of the GCSE route.
Starting with content we would go through the tricky, nitty-bitty areas of chemistry which need 1 to 1 work which may not be offered in a full classroom at school. I would them aim for a 20 minute homework of practice questions over the topic covered in lesson and then a run through the lesson after. This will gove both me and the student an idea of where learning took place and the areas which need more work. This would also get students used to exam questions for closer to exams so that we can do past papers in lesson.
As a person who hated the subject to now achieving an A* in my A-Level chemistry I believe in conveying my passion for this incredible mind opening subject. Those who want to be challenges should start to understand chemistry!
