My lessons are online but that does not mean that they won’t be interactive. I found from experience that having constant interaction with students helps them to learn and retain information better than if I was just to talk at them. I have also been on the receiving end of this, and found this method helped me a lot more. Sometimes I will get the student to teach ME the concept. The best way to learn something is by teaching it to someone else. I think I am a very friendly and approachable tutor- my previous students got on well with me, and I like to think they saw me as someone they could come to for help. However, this isn’t to say that I will act as their friend; I am firm when it is needed. My main goal is to help the student achieve their goal. Being a student myself, I am a big advocate for tuition, as I feel the 1-to-1 help really makes a difference as opposed to being in a large classroom. If I have to revisit concepts or repeat myself, I have no trouble with that. I just want my students to feel comfortable enough to ask me questions, no matter how “silly ” they may seem. To summarise, I am a tutor that ultimately wants what is best for that particular student. No student is the same, and I recognise that they all learn in different ways. I am adaptable to everyone’s needs.
