As a graduate of University College London, studying history, I am passionate about learning and encourage curiosity and inspiration in those I teach. Having tutored online for four years, I tailor my lessons to each individual student, tutoring private lessons in History, English Literature and Classics. For some students this includes preparation for exams that are soon approaching, for others, I teach for longer periods, supporting them throughout their studies, as a mentor and tutor. It is wonderfully rewarding to hear positive feedback from students and I value not only communicating information effectively, but also capturing students’ interest, so that they can enjoy what they’re learning as much as I love teaching it.
Helping students to achieve their goals is a key part of my lessons, especially for those students that have exams coming up soon. When teaching humanities, I provide conversational lessons so students can voice their opinions and learn how to include their own style while writing a structured essay answer. This creates a stress-free learning environment where students can feel comfortable sharing concerns, and my lessons are flexible, centred a student’s specific needs so there is no need to stick to a fixed lesson structure, if something else came up that week that a student wants to cover.

As a tutor, I not only focus on the academic success of a student but go beyond this, providing general support to students and creating a conversational learning environment where they can feel comfortable sharing any and all concerns. I am committed to helping students achieve their goals and learning what each student’s specific aims are so I can then adapt my teaching style to work towards this.
Part of what makes tutoring so useful is how personalised it is and this specific alignment of teaching styles to perfectly suit the needs of a student is what makes tutoring different to being in a classroom. With structured, personalised teaching that is built entirely around a student, I have found students can let their individual style come through in their work, while achieving excellent results.

With experience teaching a wide variety of students of different ages, language and learning abilities, I teach GCSE and A-level as well as Pre-university and Pre-GCSE. I love getting to know each student as this helps me understand the teaching style that will most benefit each individual. Favouring a conversational lesson style, I find not only takes away stress but allows students to get the most out of each tutoring session, as we can break down any difficulties, and build a plan for how to improve every time. Setting small goals, students are able to notice the change and improvement in their results, finding work progressively easier and trusting themselves more, so they can feel confident in their ability when going into an exam, or interview, or submitting for a deadline.

For History, English Literature and Classics, I cover all exam boards with most experience teaching AQA, Edexcel, OCR, Eduqas and Cambridge (IGCSE).
For History, I focus on how to structure essay answers, specifically source questions and help with coursework as well as revision of content and timed essay practice. A key part of my approach is practical learning, planning exam answers so that each assessment objective is met, and focusing on areas of improvement. I notice the way each student learns so I can make feedback accessible, more easily understood and applicable to their work.

For Classics, I teach all OCR modules including the Homeric World, Greek Theatre, Greek Religion, and philosophy etc. My previous students have secured A*s and I love bringing the ancient world to life for students with a conversational lesson style that enables them to showcase their individuality as well as score high marks.

For English Literature, I focus on breaking down assessment objectives so that students know how to structure essay answers effectively. I cover all Shakespeare plays as well as all Poetry and Prose for GCSE and A-level as well as coursework.

For EFL, I aim to help students improve fluency in speaking and accurate pronunciation. My sessions typically focus on growing student confidence in their ability as well as help with vocabulary, more natural turns of phrase to sound native and help with grammar and exams.

Most importantly, I focus on building student confidence so they have all the tools to tackle exam questions. My students can expect an improvement in their grades from mocks to end result, achieving their target grade or above. I also cover university applications to help secure students places at Russell Group universities and specialise in making sure students achieve a place at their top choice university.
