I’ve worked as a freelance tutor since 2011 as well as working as a school teacher. I have taught students from many different backgrounds across the age range from 4 to 16. I am experienced in a variety of fields including special needs. Many of my clients have returned to me several years later to seek tuition for younger siblings.

I vary my lessons according to the needs of the individual student and give clear feedback to parents at the end of each lesson. I currently teach mostly English as well as some Maths. I mainly teach lessons remotely as many of my students live in the London area while I am based in Norfolk. I am happy to visit clients if they live locally to me. I currently also support students who are home schooled.

I help children who are struggling with English and maths, using a large range of resources - it really depends on what a student needs to help them focus and stay interested. In addition, I teach children who are preparing for the 11+ or independent school exams for Year 7 or Year 9 entry, and provide tuition to secondary students who are preparing for English GCSEs.

I work flexibly around the needs of the student, in collaboration with parents, and identify areas for development through careful questioning and setting realistic challenges for students. As there are many areas of learning within English, I focus on teaching children to become more independent learners, whether it’s developing fluency in reading or supporting them to become more confident creative writers.

When children feel more comfortable and self-reliant in their English and maths skills, they achieve well and can accelerate their own progress towards their full potential. I see my role as enabling students through giving support, realistic challenges and encouragement in learning.
