Experienced tutor in English, History, Classics and EFL, all levels, with sessions tailored to your specific needs

Advert description
Hi, I'm Alice, an online tutor with four years experience teaching private lessons in GCSE and A-level History, English Literature and Classics. With a BA in History from UCL and a masters in Prose Fiction from UEA, I plan each lesson to individually suit each student's needs. I have tutored students who want to improve gradually, over a long period of time, as well as those that need extra revision help before their exam, building each student's confidence so they can achieve their aims on results day.
I aim to make my sessions fun as well as informative, giving student's the extra help they won't get in class, such as specific feedback on an essay, presenting information in a way that is memorable and tailored to the way a student learns.
As each session is so individual, I provide tutoring for those that are doing well in their subject already, but want extra help to secure the highest grades, as well as those that maybe don't enjoy the subject as much as others, but want to improve by a grade or two, I can help each student get the results they want.
As well as exam technique, I help with university applications, coursework and, overall, support each student's academic career.
It is important for me to create a stress free space, where students can ask questions and communicate any worries they may have about their studies, that we can then work on in class.
No matter a student's end goal, I aim to provide the tools to help them achieve it.

My sessions usually consist of focus on exam technique, essay writing and how to put all of the facts learned into a structure that secures the highest marks, in History, as well as help with content learning and revision.
For English Literature, my sessions usually focus on analysing poetry, remembering quotes, essay structure, coursework and technique.
And for Classics, I focus on exam technique, help with balancing the different assessment objectives, revision on set texts and essay planning. I prefer to plan essays in my sessions as I feel this helps most with ensuring students know exactly how to answer each question, without feeling overloaded with essays to write outside of class, as well as enabling students to see lots of different practice questions so they won't be surprised in the actual exam.
If this sounds like something that would help you, I would love to hear from you.
