Advert description
As a graduate of UCL studying history, I have a passion for learning and am very aware of the importance of teachers when shaping a student’s interest in a subject. Tutoring online for four years, I tailor my lessons to suit each student’s individual needs, For some, this includes preparation for exams that are soon approaching, whereas, I teach others for longer periods, supporting them throughout their studies, as an academic mentor. It is wonderfully rewarding to hear positive feedback from students and I value not only communicating information effectively, but also capturing students’ interest, so that they can enjoy what they’re learning as much as I love teaching it.
As a tutor, I not only focus on the academic success of a student but go beyond this, providing general support to students and creating a conversational learning environment where they can feel comfortable sharing any and all concerns. I am committed to helping students achieve their goals and find the most important skill is listening and learning what each student’s specific aims are so I can then adapt my teaching style to work towards this.
Part of what makes tutoring so useful is how personalised it is and this specific alignment of teaching styles to match the needs of each student is what makes tutoring different to being in a class of fifteen or more people, with one teacher using the same teaching method for multiple students. With structured, personalised teaching that is built entirely around a student, I have found students can really shine and let their individual style come through in their work, while achieving excellent results.
Having tutored for over four years, I am experienced teaching students of different ages, language and learning abilities. I love getting to know each student, as this helps me to understand what style of teaching will most benefit each individual.
Favouring a conversational lesson style, I find not only takes away stress but allows the student to get the most out of each tutoring session, as we can break down any difficulties they’re having and build a plan for how to improve this every time. Setting small goals, students are able to notice the improvement in their results, finding work progressively easier and but learning how to trust themselves more so they can feel confident in their academic ability when completing an exam or deadline
