I tutor maths and physics virtually for a range of students, from those looking to secure a pass in maths and physics to those trying to extend their understanding beyond the curriculum.
I strive to nurture an environment where students feel comfortable expressing their confusion, and try to probe the ‘why’ a method works so students can do mathematical methods with ease and are equipped to attempt atypical questions. I do this by introducing a topic and then going through questions with the student to see their thought processes and spot any misconceptions. I’ve been described by previous students as ‘very thorough’ which I think is necessary to ensure we succeed in developing a deep understanding of the subject.
I develop a learning plan for the subject but this evolves based off the students needs and I am happy to work on the fly if a student comes to the lesson with a problem.
I tutor virtually by sharing my screen on which I am writing, depending on the technology the student has access to we can work collaboratively on the screen. I tend to use google meet and share the lesson notes in a google drive so that students can easily access the lessons and work.
