I am an Actuarial Science graduate from the University of Kent with a strong background in mathematics, statistics, probability and financial mathematics. I enjoy helping students understand not only how to get the right answer, but why the method works.
My lessons are structured around the individual student. I will begin by identifying the topics you are confident with and the areas that are causing difficulty. From there, we will break problems down into clear, manageable steps and work through examples together before moving on to independent practice.
I believe maths becomes much easier when the underlying idea is understood rather than memorised. I therefore focus on explaining concepts in straightforward language, using worked examples and encouraging students to talk through their reasoning. When mistakes happen, we will use them to identify gaps in understanding and correct them rather than simply moving on.
For GCSE and A-Level students, I can also help with exam technique, recognising common question types, showing working clearly, managing time effectively and approaching unfamiliar problems with confidence.
My academic background includes actuarial mathematics, statistics, probability, stochastic processes, time series analysis and financial modelling, so I am particularly comfortable with numerical and analytical subjects.
I am patient, approachable and happy to explain the same concept in different ways until it makes sense. My aim is for students to leave each lesson feeling more confident, more independent and better able to solve similar questions on their own.
