I offer friendly, one-to-one lessons designed to build students’ writing skills and confidence in GCSE English Literature and Language. I am comfortable working with SEND students and can adapt my teaching to be tailored to an individual’s learning style. The lessons will be online or in-person depending on your preferences and needs.

The first lesson will contain a conversation that involves asking what exam-board your school follows (AQA, Edexcel or OCR) and an informal assessment that will help clarify your strengths and areas for development across the papers. This will allow me to create a personalised plan that focuses on your specific goals of improvement.

The following lessons will be taught at a comforting, yet efficient, pace, where the focus will be on progressing towards tailored academic targets through structured exam practice. This will include practicing how to structure questions during the limited time each paper presents, whilst also implementing methods of language-analysis to an in-depth degree. To help build your confidence further, I will bring along small tasks that revolve around text excerpts to encourage the skill to comfortably and competently compare and analyse sources. Depending on your targets, I will pick the texts that I believe would benefit your areas of struggle.

As a passionate English graduate, I also support the development of creative writing. I will provide structured exercises and personalised tips that can develop your confidence in a supportive and judgement-free environment. We will explore ways to make your writing more engaging by using literary techniques and I will help you discover your own, confident writing style/voice.
