My lessons are structured, interactive, and tailored to each student’s needs, with a focus on building confidence and improving exam performance in GCSE and A-Level English. Each 60-minute session is goal-oriented, whether refining essay structure, analysing texts, or preparing for specific exam questions.
I begin by identifying each student’s strengths and areas for development, then adapt lessons to address these needs. A key part of my teaching is developing clear essay plans, exam structures, and repeatable techniques that students can use independently under timed conditions. I also focus on breaking down complex ideas into simple steps, particularly when approaching unseen questions or challenging texts.
Lessons are interactive, combining discussion, guided analysis, and written practice, alongside clear feedback so students understand exactly how to improve. I also use mark schemes to show how to move answers into the top bands and provide model approaches where helpful.
In addition to academic content, I prioritise building confidence and reducing exam anxiety. With 3A*s at A-Level, including 98% in English Literature, and 9s in English Literature and English Language at GCSE, I understand the subject’s demands and effective strategies for success. As an LSE Academic Mentor and Student Mentor, I have supported students one-to-one, helping them improve grades and develop independent study habits.
My aim is always to create a supportive, engaging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making progress, and developing a genuine confidence in English.
