What can you expect from my lessons?
My lessons are friendly, relaxed and completely tailored to the individual child. I want children to feel comfortable from the moment they arrive, so they can ask questions, make mistakes and have a go without worrying about getting things wrong.
Before starting, I like to understand where your child is currently working, what they enjoy, where they are finding things difficult and what you would like them to achieve. I then use this to plan sessions around their specific needs rather than following a one-size-fits-all programme.
A typical lesson will include a short warm-up or recap to revisit previous learning, followed by focused teaching and plenty of opportunities for your child to practise their skills. I use a mixture of discussion, questioning, practical activities, games and written work to keep lessons engaging and to make sure your child genuinely understands the concept before moving on.
I adapt the pace throughout the session depending on your child. If something isn't clicking, I'll explain it in a different way. If they are ready for a challenge, I'll push their thinking further.
With 9 years of classroom teaching experience across EYFS, KS1 and KS2, including my current role as a Reception teacher and EYFS Lead, I have a strong understanding of the National Curriculum and the expectations at each stage of primary education. I also have experience preparing children for Phonics Screening, KS1 SATs and the Year 4 Multiplication Tables Check.
My priority is always to make learning feel positive and achievable, while helping children develop the skills and confidence to become more independent learners.
I want your child to leave each lesson feeling proud of what they've achieved — and looking forward to the next one!
