Hi there, I'm Abbi and I'm a doctoral researcher and teacher in psychology and statistics. I have four years of experience teaching at university level and five years of tutoring GCSE and A Level students, so I'm comfortable working with learners at any stage from secondary school through to Masters level.
I tutor psychology and statistics (at any level), maths (GCSE and A Level), science (GCSE Biology, Chemistry, and Physics), and Spanish (GCSE) — so if you or your child need help across multiple subjects, I can provide that consistency.
Every student learns differently, and what I genuinely enjoy most about one-to-one tutoring is getting to know each person and discovering what helps them thrive. Some students prefer structured, methodical lessons working through topics step by step; others learn better through discussion, diagrams, worked examples, or real-world applications. I adapt my teaching to suit you, not the other way around.
In a typical lesson, we'll start by checking in on what you've been working on and where you're feeling stuck. I explain concepts in plain language and connect them to examples that make sense to you. We'll work through problems or questions together, and I can set follow-up tasks between sessions if that's helpful — though I'm always flexible depending on your workload and goals.
I focus on building genuine understanding rather than rote memorisation, so you can apply what you've learned confidently in exams or beyond. As a researcher with nine published peer-reviewed papers, I bring real-world experience to my teaching and can support students working on dissertations or research projects as well as those preparing for GCSEs or A Levels.
I'm patient, encouraging, and genuinely invested in seeing you succeed. I've helped students achieve results they didn't think possible — including taking a GCSE student from a predicted E to an A grade. There's nothing more rewarding than watching someone's confidence grow as things start to click.
Whether you need help preparing for exams, getting your head around a difficult topic, or pushing your dissertation over the finish line, I'd love to help. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
