Learning the piano or any other instruments can be easy depending on if your reasons. Firstly, your level of interest and enthusiasm for sounds and music, also the environment could contribute to your success. I learned the piano sneaking and hiding from my parents who didn't want me to play it because they felt it was a huge distraction to my science career. Today I'm an engineer and my love for music has not reduced one bit. I'm an intermediate singer and piano player at the moment. I am growing and I still want to pursue it into the most professional level.

Three things that will answer your query: first, be patient and learn at your own pace; commit at least one to two hours daily of your time for the first six months; and set goals and track your progress. Keep in mind why you want to learn piano. Just continue learning and leveling up your piano skills. Who knows, after several years of consistent practice, you might become an expert? Always set short- and long-term goals. It's never too late to start learning the piano. I still believe, as an adult, you can still achieve high proficiency through constant practice, commitment, and a proper motivation. Set realistic goals, seek guidance from a professional teacher, and just enjoy the process.

Good morning Miranda Hope you are well. To be honest with you I also only started learning the piano last year in 2023. I bought an old piano/keyboard and started to practice. However, what I did 1st was to learn to remember where my notes were. For example D, E, F, etc. After that I learned from a You tube channel on how to play the songs. It is a channel called Phianonize. It shows in slow motion how to play a specific song. After learning that I memorized it. Before long I could play without looking at any keynotes or on paper. It took about 2 weeks to remember one song if you practice everyday. As long as you know where your keys are, you can play any song. Hope this helps. Good luck practicing.

Whether you believe you can or you can't, you are right. It's important to set your intention and believe that you can. Regardless of what anybody else can say, even with their best intentions. It's up to you to set it as possible. Look at some mentors you have available online. Methologies have been refined to fundamental and practical lessons that makes it easier, faster and fun to learn anything. It requires believing that you can, declaring your intention and cultivate the discipline that you require to achieve your goals. Set yourself grounded goals. Put the basket far enough to feel inspired, but not so far that you might feel discouraged on the way to it.

It is possible to have a basic knowledge of piano within this time but it would be basic depending on whether you are learning classical music or playing simple tunes through books etc. if a person is happy with this then it is okay but unless the person is naturally a quick and gifted learner then not too much will be achieved if you are taking grades. Today music is much more flexible and learning piano can be recognised by not only grades but with performance in a number of genres

Hello Miranda, I do know it´s possible to learn anything you want to if you have the will to do it. Nevertheless, in my opinion, learning piano in just 6 months could be a bit difficult. Having said that, one piece of advice I give you is that you start right away and see what you have learnt 6 months from now. No doubt you will be far better than now, and you´ll more motivated to keep on learning. Go ahead Miranda! Best regards, Gustavo.

Yes, it's definitely possible to learn the basics of piano in 6 months, especially if you commit to regular practice and set realistic goals. In that time, you can expect to learn essential techniques, basic music theory, and a few simple songs. However, how much progress you make depends on factors like your prior musical experience, how much time you dedicate each day, and the quality of instruction you receive. While you may not become a concert-level pianist in six months, you can definitely build a solid foundation and enjoy playing familiar tunes with confidence!

Like most things, practice makes perfect. With the right amount of time, work, and effort, it is absolutely possible to improve significantly. Keep in mind that having a good tutor and following a well-structured learning plan can help put you on the fastest track to success. However, be realistic about your progress—you won’t be playing like Louis Lortie or other pianists who have invested decades into mastering the piano anytime soon. That said, with the right teacher, motivation, materials, and consistent effort, you’d be surprised at the level you can achieve within six months.
