I spent 25 years teaching English full time in a local secondary school. Since I have retired, seven years ago, I have been tutoring GCSE and Year 6 pupils privately with excellent results.
I'm friendly and relate well to pupils gaining an understanding of the areas where they need help. I am able to put pupils at their ease and encourage them to aim for good results.
I am particularly familiar with AQA Language and Literature exams.
I also have experience teaching learners with disabilities,including autism, and some experience teaching English as an additional language.
I am also available to tutor year 6 pupils to help them prepare for SATs exams or entrance exams for fee paying schools.
I am prepared to travel short distances to teach in your home but prefer to teach in my own home as I have many resources readily available here.
I do like to set homework so that a pupil can make the required progress and am happy to offer support online to assist with any difficulties as part of the lesson charge.
