Learn French by watching TV series

What a better way to learn a language than to watch series with subtitles?

I swear by this technique as I know that I have considerably improved my English by watching TV shows, series, movies and animes with english subtitles on. No matter what language the show was in, I would put the English subtitles to watch it. Gradually I picked up vocabulary and idioms used in certain contexts and automatically learnt them.

By watching series related to law for example, I learned a lot of English vocabulary used in law which helps me in my courses.

I recommend shows like Emily in Paris because, as cliché and stereotyped as it may be, there are some expressions used in everyday lives included in it and it is very fun to watch. Without knowing it, you learn some easy vocabulary and you can hear the real French accent coming from the actors.

By watching shows, you can learn a language while enjoying it, and make the process less painful. I also recommend to keep a little notebook where you add a new word in everytime you encounter a difficult word, so that you keep track and don't forget anything you see. You can return to your notes anytime which is very helpful as well.

This is why when you have the chance, rewatch one of your favourite series and turn on the French subtitles! Or, vice versa, you put the show in French audio and put on your language's subtitles. As easy as it may sound, it is not, which is why it is better to start with series you are already familiar with, and that are still fresh in your memories so that you can understand better already.
