I am a compassionate, approachable professional with experience in counselling, psychotherapy, employability guidance and educational support. Across these roles, I have helped people from varied backgrounds recognise their strengths, work through barriers and take practical steps towards positive change. In my current role as a psychotherapist and counsellor with Counselling and Family Mediation Western Isles, I support children, young people and adults in a safe, non-judgemental environment. This work has strengthened my skills in active listening, thoughtful questioning and helping people develop self-awareness and practical strategies suited to their circumstances. As a BACP-registered practitioner, I place strong importance on confidentiality, ethical practice and clear professional boundaries. Alongside this, my role as a Training Officer with Comhairle nan Eilean Siar has given me more than a decade of experience in one-to-one guidance. I help people explore employment, education, training and apprenticeship options, identify realistic goals, address barriers and develop practical action plans. I also work with partner organisations to connect individuals with appropriate advice and specialist support when needed. My earlier work in education, social care and youth development has further developed my ability to build trusting relationships and adapt my approach to individual needs. I have supported young people and families to strengthen confidence, independence, organisation and resilience, while working collaboratively with schools and community services. I would bring empathy, integrity, adaptability and a person-centred approach to this role. I am passionate about helping people clarify what matters to them, recognise their own capabilities and turn intentions into achievable goals.
