Advert description
I have a strong academic background in English, having achieved Grade 9s in both GCSE English Language and English Literature, alongside a Distinction in GCSE Spoken Language. I am currently studying English Literature at A-level, where I continue to develop my analytical, written and communication skills through exploring complex literary texts, constructing well-supported arguments and examining different interpretations.
Alongside my academic experience, I have developed valuable practical skills through tutoring and supporting other students. I have previously helped primary school pupils with their English work, providing guidance with their reading, writing and general understanding of the subject. More recently, I have also tutored my peers virtually in English Literature, helping them understand challenging concepts, develop interpretations and improve the quality and structure of their written responses.
Throughout secondary school, I also participated in and won multiple English essay-writing and creative-writing competitions. These achievements further developed my creativity, written expression and ability to communicate ideas in an engaging and sophisticated manner.
One of my greatest strengths is creating helpful, well-structured learning resources that make complex information easier to understand and remember. I particularly enjoy producing revision notes, essay plans and other materials that break down challenging topics into manageable explanations. I take pride in making English accessible to students with different learning needs and adapting my explanations to ensure they fully understand what they are learning.
I would describe myself as approachable, patient, articulate and enthusiastic. I believe effective tutoring involves more than simply explaining a subject; it requires encouragement, adaptability and the ability to build a student's confidence. Ultimately, I aim to create a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, developing their abilities and achieving their full academic potential.
