UCL Biomedical Sciences Student with passion in personalised style of tutoring

Advert description
I am a prospective 1st year undergraduate student at University College London (UCL) for Biomedical Sciences. This year I am taking a gap year to gain fruitful experiences in work, independence and collaboration. I would also like to enrich my work experience with tutoring and further enhancing the academic and holistic abilities of younger students. Economically, my familial financial situation is unoptimistic; contrary to submission to the societal strata seemingly designated to me, I choose to push the questions marks further into the dark unknown, and work towards a world where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts, helping more young people like myself. My main areas of expertise are in teaching primary through to secondary level Biology, Chemistry, Maths, Spanish Language and Literature, Psychology, English Language and Literature and ESL support, and also Piano or Musical studies. I have multi-faceted interests that span linguistics, language learning, the biochemistry of life, neuroscience, and the linkages between music, cognition, and brain development. In terms of qualifications, I have achieved 7A*s and 2As at IGCSE, including 2 Cambridge Outstanding Learner Awards, 1 being the highest mark in the world for Spanish Foreign Language, and the other a high achievement award for literature in English. For International A levels, I have A*/As in Biology, Chemistry and Spanish Language and Literature, Maths and Psychology (AS). I have also obtained a Grade 8 in ABRSM Piano Performance Grade, and a Grade 5 in ABRSM Music Theory. I believe in a constructivist and progressivist approach to teaching, particularly in treating each student as a unique individual with highly specific academic support requirements which are often times obscure and ambiguous when placed in a background of a uniform and standardised approach in a conventional school environment. I believe personal tutoring is a significant way of improving efficacy and cultivating a personalised model of tutoring methods that ensure the student reaches their full potential. In terms of experience, I have successfully tutored a plethora of students, including in French IGCSE (15 yr old), ESL (9 and 5 yr old), Piano (5-10 yrs old) and Maths (10 yr old). I have also taught group lessons in piano and music theory.
