Advert description
I take a friendly, patient and personalised approach to tutoring, tailoring each lesson to the student’s individual needs, current level and academic goals. Before starting, I ask parents or tutees to provide me with a list of topics or areas they would like the lessons to focus on. This allows me to plan each session carefully and ensure that the content is relevant to what the student needs most.
I prepare structured lesson plans that combine explanation, discussion, examples and practice questions. I break down more challenging topics into manageable sections and encourage students to ask questions throughout the lesson. I also use active recall, exam-style questions and regular knowledge checks to help students retain information and build confidence.
Lessons typically last 60 minutes, although I can be flexible depending on the student’s age, level and requirements. Where appropriate, I provide homework or additional practice questions after lessons to reinforce the topics covered. I can also use homework and regular progress checks to identify areas that need further attention in future sessions.
I hold a BSc in Biomedical Science and an MSc in Brain Imaging and Cognitive Neuroscience. I have professional experience working as a scientist as well as previous freelance tutoring experience, allowing me to combine strong academic subject knowledge with practical teaching experience.
I tutor students across a range of levels, including SATs, GCSE English, Maths and Science, A Level Biology and English Language, and degree-level Biology. My aim is to create a supportive and encouraging environment where students can ask questions, develop their understanding and become more confident in their abilities.
