French and Spanish teacher for children and adults offering beginners, intermediate and advanced lessons online and in person

Hola. My name is Katie and I am a teacher of over 20 years specialising in Modern Languages French and Spanish up to GCSE. I can also offer French to A level. I have had great success in terms of exam results and building relationships with students. I have worked in several secondary schools. I bring enthusiasm and a love of languages. I have lived in France and travelled extensively in Spain and love to travel and speak languages on holiday while abroad as well as sampling the culture, food and individuality of the places. Within my teaching, I focus on building confidence in students. Whether beginners, intermediate or advanced I work with pupils to ensure they make excellent progress. In my lessons, pupils are encouraged to engage through fun activities, starting with phonics, then moving to vocabulary or grammar building activities and then moving to the production of the language. I know how to teach difficult concepts and break them down to make languages motivating and accessible. My experience means I can simplify concepts to aid students to learn quicker. I tailor lessons to a student’s starting point and know how to recognise and work on any gaps in knowledge. My aims are that pupils develop an inherent love of languages and to produce independent students who have the confidence to give it a go with speaking or writing as well as the other skills.
