Ahead of each meeting we would talk about the topic that you (the student) needed to write about and whether it would focus on the particular historical moment, or the topic in general, and then you would return. At the next meeting we would talk about the issue that you had been writing about and then we would question each other to see if you could outdo me. I would then ask you to write a small extra piece that evening about what you did correctly. If you had found nothing then you would have to write the exact same piece in order to learn from the other perspective.
