Hi there, I'm Matthew. I have completed five A Levels in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Music, giving me a strong scientific background. I also achieved an ARSM (Associate of the Royal Schools of Music) Diploma in Piano, demonstrating the commitment and organisation I bring to my sessions. I represented my school in the Top of the Bench Chemistry competition, deepening my understanding of Chemistry and its practical applications.

Through my volunteering in healthcare settings, I have developed strong communication, listening and interpersonal skills. This has shaped my teaching style to be reflective and student focused and I encourage students to take an active role in their learning by reflecting on their strengths and areas they want to improve. I take a positive approach to my tutoring as it gives students the motivation to take on the toughest questions in the exam.

I offer one-to-one online tutoring in GCSE and A Level in Chemistry. In my lessons, I focus on:

•Understanding and retaining content.

•Improving exam technique and structure through past paper questions and application.

•Reflective learning to tailor lessons to students’ needs and identify areas to improve.

•Building confidence with an encouraging environment so students feel ready going into their exams.

I recommend lessons of at least one hour as this gives me enough time to go in depth on questions and answer any queries students may have. While I have most experience with the AQA board, I am happy to teach other exam boards.
