Maths tutor providing AS/A level lessons to children of age 16-18 (includes Focused Homework and Feedback)

During my lessons, I introduce the new material, building upon students' prior knowledge and skills. This is followed by working on instructive, reinforcing exercises to enhance and deepen understanding and build confidence in the new knowledge. I set personalised and focused homework after each maths lesson for the students to practice the new skills. I usually spend time at the start of the following session highlighting the misconceptions they have made and using them to emphasise the areas that require improvement. I also keep track of students' progress, which helps me identify students' weaknesses and strengths.
I always ensure to listen carefully to 'student voice' and make them understand not only a particular problem but also the method and how to apply it in any question, as everyone knows that there will not be the same problem on the exam. I teach them how to think, to use what is given, to make links between topics, and to accumulate and implement prior knowledge, which will lead to a solution.
