Helpful and kind. I help students to persevere. My lessons are mainly aimed at primary and secondary pupils.

If I were teaching English as a foreign language, I would first assess the student’s current level, their strengths and weaknesses, and what they specifically want to achieve. I would then structure lessons around a combination of speaking, listening, reading, writing, while making the lessons interactive rather than simply teaching from a textbook. For example, if I was teaching someone who struggled with conversational English, I might start by introducing useful vocabulary and phrases around a particular topic, such as travelling. I would explain the meaning and pronunciation, give them some examples, and then gradually get them to use the language themselves through questions, role-play and conversation. I would correct mistakes constructively and explain why something is incorrect rather than simply giving them the correct answer. I would also adapt my teaching style to the individual student. Some students may learn better through visual examples, while others may benefit more from conversation, repetition or written exercises. I would regularly check their understanding and monitor their progress so that future lessons focus on areas where they need the most support.
