Advert description
Hi, my name is Mithesha, and I'm a passionate Maths tutor from London, based in Oxford! Although I pursued a Music degree at the University of Oxford, I continue to simultaneously share my love for maths, having taken Mathematics and Further Mathematics up to, and during my A-Levels. I have taught Maths for 8 years and have experience teaching students from KS1 to KS5 (including SATs, 11+ Examinations, GCSEs, and A-Levels). I also have experience teaching in person, online (especially throughout COVID) and hybrid lessons, for groups and one-to-ones - through this, I have been able to pick out the best strategies that have helped my students achieve the results they've wanted, and implement them into my more recent lessons. I have also participated in maths competitions such as UKMT and Ritangle. With experience in teaching and working with children in a range of different jobs (as a music tutor, dance teacher, and a maths tutor), I hope to make my maths lessons fun, interactive and accessible for all, allowing students to achieve the results they want!
Lessons are for anyone studying GCSEs (Years 9-11) to A-Levels. Lesson length can vary between 1 or 2 hours as the student pleases. Rather than being solely content-focused, I intend to develop knowledge and skills, allowing students to understand concepts in depth. I hope to nurture an interest in mathematics, as well as pushing the student to achieve the best results they can. Through my patience and engagement with the student, I aim to create a positive learning environment where the student feels comfortable to develop their skills! I tend to prioritise working through examination questions so that the student can gain familiarity with the type of questions they will face. Hence, I implement this into my lessons, predominantly working with exam-style questions (once content is covered). I also keep tabs on academic progress via homework and regular assessments, providing students with mark schemes wherever possible. In general, I provide students with lesson notes (including working out) of what we have covered in lesson. From GCSEs, I achieved a 9 in Mathematics, and from A-Levels, an A* in Mathematics and A in Further Mathematics. Furthermore, I have participated in UKMT and achieved high scores, coming out as the 'best in the school' in Year 12.
