Assistant Professor Teaching Medicine with 10+ Years' Experience Helping GCSE and A Level Biology Students Succeed!

Advert description
I am an Assistant Professor at the University of Nottingham, where I teach pathology to medical students. Before this, I was a Lecturer in Biomedical Science, teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students across a range of biology and biomedical science subjects.

I hold a PhD in Synthetic Biology from the University of Nottingham and have experience working across academia and industry, including pharmaceutical microbiology research at the University of Manchester. This gives me a broad understanding of biology, biomedical careers and the skills needed for students interested in pursuing Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Science or other life science degrees.

I have over 10 years' experience tutoring GCSE and A Level Biology across different exam boards. I specialise in breaking down complex topics into clear, understandable explanations and helping students develop both their subject knowledge and exam confidence. I teach students from GCSE through to A Level, as well as providing guidance on university applications, including Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Science.

Lessons are typically one hour long and are tailored to each student's individual needs. For new students, I begin with a short diagnostic quiz to identify strengths and areas for improvement before focusing on the topics that will have the greatest impact. I use a question-led approach with bespoke revision booklets, clear explanations and worked examples to help students develop a genuine understanding of the subject rather than simply memorising content.

I place a strong emphasis on exam technique, including interpreting command words, structuring high-mark answers, tackling applied questions and practising past paper questions. Regular homework, progress reviews and personalised feedback help students build confidence, improve their grades and achieve their academic goals.

Many of my students have made significant progress, improving their grades and progressing to science-based degrees, including Medicine at the Universities of Oxford and other top-ranking universities. I enjoy helping students discover confidence in biology and supporting them to achieve their academic goals.
