Advert description
My English Language lessons are designed for students who want to become genuinely confident communicators, not just students who can pass an exam, but young people who understand how language works and how to use it effectively. I work with learners from primary age through to GCSE level, tailoring every session to the individual student’s needs and goals. Whether your child struggles to organise ideas on paper, needs help with grammar and sentence structure, or is pushing for a top grade, I build every lesson around exactly where they are and where they need to be.
Each session follows a clear structure. We begin with a short warm-up, a vocabulary exercise, grammar drill or quick reading task, before moving into one of three core areas: structured writing, reading comprehension or language analysis. In writing lessons, I guide students through planning, paragraph structure, sentence variety and vocabulary choices. Every piece of written work receives detailed feedback, not just a mark, so students understand precisely what worked and how to improve.
For comprehension and analysis, I use a wide range of texts including fiction, non-fiction, articles and persuasive writing to expose students to different styles and develop critical reading skills. I teach students how to identify language techniques, analyse a writer’s choices and express those ideas clearly in writing, skills that are tested directly in GCSE exams but valuable far beyond the classroom.
Having achieved a Grade 9 in Edexcel iGCSE English Language, I know the specification in detail and understand exactly what examiners are looking for. I am passionate about helping students find their voice, build confidence and discover that writing can be something they genuinely enjoy.
